Statement of Mission

Incorporated in 1992, Friends of Maine Libraries (FoML) was founded by a committed group of library advocates from all three regional library districts, with support from the Maine State Library. Their goals, which continue to guide us today, were:

Friends of Maine Libraries has grown to serve Maine's libraries in many ways. Library Friends, staff and trustees are given opportunities to meet and share ideas at our annual Fall conference and Spring regional meetings.

FoML has awarded over $15,000 to libraries and Friends groups from its grant programs for:

Friends of Maine Libraries was the recipient of the 1998 Baker & Taylor/Friends of Libraries USA Award for Outstanding State Friends Organization.

Friends of Maine Libraries works closely with the Maine State Library, the Maine Library Association, and the Maine Library Trustees Association to promote cooperation and communication across many levels in the library community.

Friends of Maine Libraries is a 501(c)(3) organization.
